Description
This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Cryptosporidium and a choice of detection methods relative to the objectives. Study objectives were to improve Cryptosporidium risk assessmentby optimizing the CC-IFA method viamaximizing infectious foci countswithin a physiological context, andcombining total and infectious countson the same sample to remove the biasinduced by non-homogeneoussample split. Experimental approach used cell cultures and immunofluorescence assays. Results are given for: method optimization; optimizing stimulation media; optimizing infectious media; IMS dissociation media; direct dual detection andevaluation of oocyst loss; and, impact of reference total count. Conclusions are given for CC-IFA media optimization, and for CC-IFA dual detection. Includes tables, figures.
