By using weather based irrigation technology, the Santa Barbara County ET ControllerDistribution and Installation Program is saving 25% of the landscape water use at targetedresidential properties in Santa Barbara County (County), California, U.S.A. Reducing landscapewater use is a large source of potential water savings in Santa Barbara County becauseapproximately fifty percent of residential water use in the County is for landscape irrigation andthere are many large residential landscapes. The program involves distribution and installation of300 WeatherTRAK® ET irrigation controllers (ET Controller) over three years at no cost to theprogram partners’ highest water using residential customers. This program was the first inCalifornia to directly involve both the customer and local licensed landscape contractors in thisnew technology. Includes figures.
