Description
New public notification requirements will challenge many US water utilities to reexamine public information attitudes and practices. The author discusses the requirements and the industry’s reactions to them and encourages water utility managers to take a proactive position toward keeping customers informed and educated on a broad range of drinking water issues. A successful public information program implemented in 1977 by the Ann Arbor (Michigan) Utilities Department is highlighted. Includes table.
