Cathodic protection has been a proven technology for prevention of corrosion onburied pipelines for nearly a century. Although corrosion is a significantproblem in the potable water industry it is difficult to know when use ofcathodic protection is cost effective. This paper develops spreadsheets whichallow estimation of the cost effectiveness of cathodic protection for differentpipe materials and sizes. Includes 8 references, tables, figures.
