Water is essential to all forms of life. Our natural resources are becomingincreasingly scarce and valuable to us. The study of water can offer schools anenlightening topic, which can form part of a broad-based curriculum, as well asraising awareness of its importance in our daily lives. Such studies can offerthe citizens of the future a better understanding of the processes involved insupplying pure and wholesome water, and ensuring that wastewater is returnedsafely to nature. This paper will consider the ways in which NorthumbrianLyonnaise Technology and Research Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdomis spearheading an innovative initiative to raise awareness of the importancewater assets play in our daily lives. The Research Centre is developingresources, which will bring the topic of networks into the classroom and raiseawareness through public education.
