Managing a Corrosion Control Program
Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 01/01/1993

Document Format: PDF

Description

This paper presents corrosion control efforts for the preservation of facilities and reduction in maintenance costs through protective coatings, cathodic protection, and material selection. As in other engineering efforts, corrosion control procedures in water utilities should be economically justified. A benefit to cost analysis can be used as a management tool to evaluate the success of a program. The economic benefits derived from the reduction in repair and replacement costs will be compared with the cost of corrosion control.
