Description
Metro Water Services (MWS) has recently completed a Master Water Plan internally with its ownengineering staff to look at water infrastructure needs to accommodate growth occurring in itswater service area. This recent plan replaced the existing Master Water Plans done in the past byconsulting engineers.Due to the advances in technology, geographic information systems (GIS) data along with traffic analysis zones (TAZ), population forecasts provided bythe local Metropolitan Planning Organization were used in determining the differential increasesin population and industry within each pressure system in the service area. The changes ingrowth were applied to the existing measured flows and then hydraulically modeled withimprovements identified for the short term (2010) and long term (2025) period. Theimprovements were further analyzed and planning costs were developed and incorporated intoMWS’ Capital Improvements Program. Includes figures.
