Description
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are computer software systems that combine digital mapping with data management. They are ideal for managing wellhead protection programs. The authors developed GIS applications for five rural communities in southeastern Pennsylvania for the administration and management of their wellhead protection programs. This brief discussion covers building wellhead protection GIS systems as well as land use controls and management tools for wellhead protection.
