Description

Managing a crisis on a drinking water network means: taking into account any abnormal event (microbial, chemical, mineral pollution or unserviceable component) that may occur on the network and to control its evolution until complete disappearance. The VENUS system has been put in place to provide the operator with a help in the decision in order to bring emergency plans into operation during crisis. According to the type of crisis, the expert system provided in VENUS draws up a sure and exhaustive way to restore the normal situation in the better possible conditions and following the Legislation acting on the drinking water distribution. Connected to a cartographic database, VENUS takes into account the real configurations of the network and grows rich with information it takes out of the database. Thanks to its adaptability and its interactivity with the user, VENUS makes it possible for the operator to find the better way to manage the crisis.
