Description
It is commonly thought that reverse osmosis is the only membrane process that will remove arsenic species from water. In this paper it is demonstrated that loose nanofiltration membranes can also remove a portion of arsenite from water. Evidence is presented that would indicate that electrostatic repulsion of the charged arsenic species by the membrane surface is at least partially responsible for the rejection.
