There is a lot of buzz about Application Service Providers (ASPs). Manyorganizations are exploring the use of ASPs and attempting to decide how to usethem. ASPs are companies that provide rented or leased applications via theInternet (typically using browser technology). ASPs are very attractive toorganizations for four primary reasons: they address information technology (IT)staffing and retention issues; they dramatically improve implementation speed;they provide significant cost savings; and, they increase IT’s value by allowingIT to focus on important business issues instead of fundamental technical issuesBut is the ASP market ready for utilities?
