Description
This paper summarizes issues related to water utility liability management. If a utility is privately owned it is subject to the same laws that govern liability for all other privately owned companies in the state. If publicly owned, the utility may have the benefit of certain state laws, which may limit liability. The paper lists the types of laws that may apply in these situations. The management of liability is addressed and managing risk with or without insurance is also covered.
